Cold Weather Plan for England 2012 published

The Cold Weather Plan aims to prepare for the effects of winter weather on people’s health.

It provides advice for individuals, communities and agencies on how to prepare for and respond to severe cold weather. And it is supported by a Met Office cold weather alert service that starts on 1 November and runs until the end of March 2013.

The plan is part of a  wider suite of measures that the Department of Health, NHS, Health Protection Agency and the Met Office are taking to protect individuals and communities from the effects of severe winter weather.

A series of easy-to-use ‘action cards’ have been published for use by organisations, staff and the public.

They summarise the information in the action tables in Section 3 of the Cold Weather Plan and are meant to provide a quick ready-reckoner to see at a glance the actions which are suggested for different cold weather alert levels:
